I just recently purchased a macro lens, which I am SO excited about. Here’s one of my first photos with it. This is a paperclip in my office. I received my package from B and H Photo, quickly opened it like a child on Christmas, and had to take a quick few photos to test-her-out.
Educational Note:
A macro lens lets you focus extremely close to an object. Rather than having to be feet away from a subject to focus, you can be as close as inches.
But be careful. Just because a lens or camera boasts it is macro doesn’t mean it’s going to do what you want. It can be a marketing tactic. Try to get a lens with a ration of 1:2 or 1:1. A 1:1 ration means the image on the film or digital sensor is the same size as the object being photographed. A 1:2 ratio means the subject will appear 1/2 the size of the actual object. My lens is 1:1. And I love it.
