Bell Diamond Pavement

The Bell Diamond Mine is one of my favorite mines to photograph. It’s easy to access, scenic and has the look of a remote place.

Things have changed in the past few months. The dirt road is now paved and even has lines. This is great for tourism, but not quite as great for photographs. Does that make me selfish?

For this shot I was laying in the middle of the ground on my belly with my 105mm macro lens. For all of my students out there, the first photo was shot at f/32 and the second at f/5. Notice how shallow the depth-of-field is in the second one. The only thing sharp is a small amount of pavement.
